Paprika is a demon. Paprika is in charge of a publishing company and is channelling Meryl Streep’s character from The Devil Wears Prada very heavily, possibly even surpassing the ridiculousness of her demands on other people. Paprika also needs to get laid but apparently has a large number of sexual hangups.
The books start off with a cheeky flashback to her childhood before making all of the above points clear. That pretty much covers the plot. Everyone is angels and demons in this for some reason. It may become apparent at some stage. It’s unlikely to be subtle.
The art is adorable and occasionally outright lewd. There’s clearly a big manga influence at work throughout, but Sweet Paprika definitely has a charm of its own.
And there’s a cute little dog.
If you’re looking for something daft, funny and inappropriate, it looks like you are on to a winner here.
