It’s been a packed week of reviews for the BTC crew so it’s been very hard to narrow down to not actually everything. However, we have used logic and science (okay maybe not science) to distil it down to just a few titles that stand out for reasons.

It’s Not What You Thought It Would Be
Luke really enjoyed this one. There are some very relatable stories in this collection which looks at the weirdness of growing up. Growing up is weird and as the title suggests it’s not what you thought it would be. With strong characters and relationships, realistic dialogue and expressive designs this is one to check out.
We covered Barbaric #1 in the podcast so here’s a textual review of the second issue by Angela. It had everything she loved about the first issue and more. With action, some great banter and thread of humour as well as some really nice character insight and great art if you have not checked out Barbaric previously the first two issues are out now and you should.
It’s the end of the first arc of Shadow Service. It’s a book Angela has been enjoying since the first trade and the end of the arc did not disappoint. With some real solid emotional character beats among the action humour and gore we’re still left with questions for the future (which hopefully means more Shadow Service). If you haven’t checked it out before now the first arc is complete it’s an ideal time.
