Time Before Time #22
The reason it’s such a good issue is that is shows some of the awesome ways reader investment can pay off. I am invested.

“People often talk about page turners. Well Time Before Time has always been something of a page turner for me. That’s especially true this issue. The tension! The action! The politics! The ending! There is so much in this I dare anyone to try and put it down for more than a minute. Things this issue did not let up and goodness. What I love is that amongst the tension and action there’s still decent character moments and little bits of world building.”
This arc continues to be so strong, adding more layers and twists. Everything just works. Writing both characters and plot. Art with bold choices and great colouring. And lettering just finishing things off perfectly. This is such a rich book to dive into and this issue is worth reading and rereading. Time is precious but this issue is worth some of yours.
This is an issue where the investment we’ve had in seeing Nadia reunited with her family has really paid off.
“This is a good Bloodshot issue in a short run that is the best take on the character for years. It’s pays homage to the established character with the more thoughtful outlook whilst also delivering on action and violence. It’s a book that deals with trauma, doesn’t shy away from PTSD whilst also delivering classic comic book action. That’s not always an easy balance but is successful here.”
This is a solid third entry. Each issue has brought something new to the table, added to Bloodshot’s character and that is certainly true here as well. Having X-O guest star was a solid choice, bringing a new dimension to Bloodshot in the process.
It’s been great to have something that readers can recall from previous issues brought back and fleshed out. There are developments in the world going on beyond just Nadia and Tatsuo.
“There is some truly brilliant stuff in this issue of Bloodshot. The first issue was strong but this second issue not only builds on the first but it builds on the whole character of Bloodshot, his abilities, his past. There are references to the wider Valiant universe too. I was so impressed with the care taken with all of those things too. The writing, art and lettering are solid.”
“This issue was a real rollercoaster of emotion and the ending brought that home.”
“This is a solid return for Bloodshot. Surprisingly there is a lot of character work going on. Don’t get me wrong it’s also interesting and action packed but it feels like the mature rating is for more than that.”
“As always Time Before Time expands out the future, and the past, in interesting directions”
“A theme that has been running through both issues so far is that a vengeful justice, however just, is always bittersweet.”
“It’s a well paced and well balanced issue that really is just excellent. I have been loving this run of Archer and Armstrong and the quality of writing, art, colouring and lettering remains so strong. With the twisty shock ending I am really interested to see where this goes next.”
There’s musings about life, death and predestination but it tackles them in a really original and unique way within the world
“It’s a whistle stop tour of the apocalypse…”
“Everything in this issue just works for me, it was pretty much perfect Archer and Armstrong. I really cannot wait to see how the cliff-hanger gets resolved next issue. Solidly recommended.”
