Having enjoyed Joe Kelly’s work before I checked out Claire’s Hair on a whim. This is a charming children’s story about a girl with massive hair with a mind of its own, like Spawn’s cape, but without the whole satanic element. Probably.
It’s fairly standard kid’s book fare about being yourself and accepting being different rather than conforming. It’s done well, with a slightly madcap edge from the whole living hair concept.
Joe’s story is accompanied by lush, wonderful art from Andie Desiderio, who must’ve spent ages drawing each complex hair pattern.
This is nicely done and is available on a pay what you want basis on Panel Syndicate’s website.
