Review: Money Shot #12

Money Shot #12 delivers on what I asked for last month by spending some time with Doug and Annie. This issue makes the duo the focus when it comes to adventuring, and in doing so introduces what’s likely to be the antagonists for the rest of the arc. We also see Omar spending some time with Chris, who’s still struggling to come to terms with breaking up with Bree and is determined to find a way to get her back.
As Money Shot has gone on it’s been great to see the wider ideas and stories that arise, once you’ve introduced a solid base of recurring alien characters you have a pretty solid base to go in whatever direction you want as a creator. That’s definitely something we see this issue, as Tim Seeley and Sarah Beattie have introduced enough ideas that it’s now pretty easy to draw upon characters and elements from previous story arcs, and it’s great to see some returning characters from the first two arcs of Money Shot and even the Playboy short story.
This issue really doubles down on the character work, and while the bulk of the issue spends time with Chris, Omar, Doug and Annie, it’s good to catch up with Bree in her post-XXX-plorer porn career. There’s also a solid page or two with Little Shot that I didn’t realise I was missing until now.
At this point I realise that there’s not much praise I can give for Money Shot that I haven’t said plenty of times before. The amazing balancing act of comedy, sci-if adventure, sex and down to earth moments continues here and I’m really pleased to see just how fun the series remains.
