Halloween Recommendations: Evolution
“Some people are suddenly experiencing thousands of years of…well, evolution all at once”
“Some people are suddenly experiencing thousands of years of…well, evolution all at once”
by Zachary Whittaker
Evolution follows protagonists Dr. Abe Hurley, Sister Hannah, Claire and Rochelle as, from completely different perspectives, they discover that some people are suddenly experiencing thousands of years of…well, evolution all at once.
Showcasing a diverse cast of characters allows for Evolution to feel like a worldwide event, occurring in multiple locations simultaneously. Although the three sets of protagonists are all learning more about what’s happening to the population the fact that they’re all separate allows for the mystery behind the series to remain intact throughout.
Joe Infurnari’s artwork has such wonderful texture and design to it, creating the feeling of watching a 1970’s horror film, recorded onto a past it’s best VHS tape you’re seeing years too late, and never failing to capture the nightmarish body horror and creepiness of the narrative. Written by the truly incredible combination of James Asmus, Joseph Keatinge, Christopher Sebela and Joshua Williamson; Evolution is a collaborative effort that brings together a unique blend of deeply unsettling horror ideas.
