These days Joshua Williamson might be best known as a horror writer for his series Nailbiter, but way back in 2013 he started a different horror series for Image Comics: Ghosted. Half Ocean’s Eleven and half House On Haunted Hill this is a series that immediately defies expectations. Haunted Heist is the first volume and it does exactly what it says on the tin; after being broken out of prison by an eccentric billionaire, Jackson T. Winters is tasked with assembling a team to steal a ghost from the incredibly haunted Trask Mansion.

Although the series goes in a different direction after volume one, it’s a great read throughout and it has an excellent start, using a somewhat ridiculous premise and a cast of characters both versed in the supernatural and clearly skeptical to make way for a truly terrifying, edge of your seat read.
